My Mistakes pt 1

This statement, “Let’s make better mistakes tomorrow”, has been the unspoken mantra of my life.

Everyone makes mistakes…very few want to admit it or own it.

The truth is, all of my “success” is credited to all of my mistakes. What do I mean? I am not a professional. I am not a professionally trained anything. Not in music, ministry, leadership, or life. I am a student…I learn…from my own mistakes and mishaps and from others.

I have spent many hours thinking through my life’s ups and downs. I have made some major mistakes, I have learned, I want to share what I’ve learned.

MAJOR MISTAKE ONE: ***Programs and/or Products are more important than People.

I never in my life set out to make this mistake. I never consciously decided that I would value a principle, program, or product over a person. Unfortunately, I have made this mistake…more than once.

In the pursuit of all things eternal…I was trained with the thoughts and habits of excellence. There is nothing wrong with excellence…unless it becomes more of the goal than the eternal. Jesus didn’t come to redeem our programs, productions, or principles…He came to redeem people. And sometimes, in our attempt to communicate or convey an excellent gospel, we (or at least I) have crushed the ones whom the gospel came to redeem.

I have lost friends, close friends, because of this mistake. I have also gained friends, close friends, because I recognized it was a mistake.  I did what I knew to do, I moved towards reconciliation.

I am not writing this for you to feel sorry for me or to beat myself up…I am writing in hopes that together we can avoid this mistake more often…there are better mistakes to make.

Have you ever made this mistake or one like it? What did you learn?

God Bless!

Jesus is NOT a Capitalist…

Nor is he a socialist, a communist, or a tea partier…He is a partier, just not a tea partier.

We must be careful to not allow ourselves to sink into a worship of our own ideologies that insinuate that Jesus is something that He is not.

By the way…Jesus is not American, not African, not Canadian…

Nor is He…white, black, red, or yellow…

We do not have any particular way to determine whether Jesus is more pleased with Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, or Independents…most political arenas are corrupt in general.

The political atmosphere is getting ready to heat up exponentially…and we should all be aware of the issues and vote accordingly…the basis for my vote is my understanding of God’s word (keeping in mind, my understanding is limited).

Just a friendly reminder…this world is not our home…neither is it’s political agenda our end all, be all…

Is it important? Yes…for now, it is a necessary evil.

So, for now, remember:

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself. -Jesus

God Bless!

He Is…

If you woke up today and the sun had risen into the sky, then you can be assured that God, the Creator of the Universe, is…
He is…the Author & the Finisher of your faith
He is…the Beginning & the End
He is…light, life, & love
He is…faithful
He is…I Am
