The Message, The Mission, & The Mosaic

The Message? It’s simple…it’s Good News! The Message should never change. It is the love of Christ. It is the Kingdom of God! It is John 3:16…”For God…SO LOVED THE WORLD…that He gave His only begotten Son…that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Keep the message…well, The Message!

The Mission? It’s also simple…it’s public and it’s not about you. It’s about them. Who? Them! The ones who still don’t know the message, who live in darkness when Light is available…who live without hope when Hope has come. Jesus gave us our mission…we’ve called it The Great Commission (Jesus didn’t call it that)…He simply said it…GO…”Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

The Mosaic? It’s a little more complex…but beautiful nonetheless! The Mosaic is you and I…the ones who have entered into the Kingdom of Light and now are commissioned to spread that Light. What’s beautiful about it? It’s beauty is found in its diversity. Mosaic means (in this context); to be composed of a combination of diverse elements. We are different…we come from different cultures…different socio-economic statuses…different perspectives…different personalities. Some of us are thin…some of us are robust. Some of us are black…some of us are white. Some of us are male…some of us are female. Some of us are outspoken…some of are introspective. Some of us are artists…some of us are CEOs. We are ONE BODY! ONE MOSAIC that makes up the Body of Christ. It is an amazing thing…that God would use such a diverse group of people to communicate His Message and fulfill His Mission. Paul said; “Now all of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27) Embrace the Body today…even when the other parts don’t look or love exactly like you!
